Chris Crane, president of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers union, spoke to radio host Mark Levin, and unleashed two bombshells that should outrage all Americans.

First, that Obama is “cooking the books” on his so-called “record” deportation numbers – inflating them by up to 50%, by Crane’s estimate.

And perhaps most shocking, Crane revealed that the race-baiting pressure group La Raza is effectively “running” ICE – forcing agents to stop enforcing the law against illegal aliens nationwide. 

Crane revealed these stunning facts to a disgusted Levin on his radio show Thursday night (audio below).

Crane is suing his own bosses at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in a landmark case, Crane v. Napolitano, to try and halt the Administration’s orders to ICE agents to stop enforcement of Federal immigration laws.

On April 24, Crane – who represents 7,200 agents nationwide – won a stunning initial court victory in his lawsuit against the Obama Administration.  As SWA reported at the time, Federal Judge Federal Judge Reed O’Connor told DHS that they had no power to refuse to deport illegal aliens, and that he was likely to strike down Obama’s virtual “DACA” amnesty for millions of illegal aliens. The ruling shocked the Washington establishment, and Crane’s lawsuit (you can donate here) could derail Obama’s four-year effort to undermine immigration enforcement nationwide.

Crane explained to Levin how President Obama and Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano have, since the administration’s start, “attempted to shut down” border enforcement and “absolutely” tied law enforcement’s hands.

For example, Crane explained that ICE agents are not allowed (despite express authority from Congress) to arrest an individual they suspect to be an illegal alien, an illegal alien gang member, or illegal alien criminal. Instead, they are reportedly under orders to wait until the individual commits a crime, is arrested by another law enforcement agency (such as local police), jailed, and only then may an immigration agent speak with the individual.

Additionally, the deportation process can only begin if the individual has been convicted of three or more criminal offenses.

Despite the Obama Administration’s claims of robust border enforcement and record-high ICE deportation numbers, Crane noted how the administration actually cooks the books and inflates deportation numbers. Data that Crane obtained demonstrates that, since 2008, ICE arrests and deportations “have plummeted.”

Crane explained how it works: Border Patrol (a separate agency from ICE) makes an arrest on the border, but instead of handling the deportation itself, Border Patrol hands the detainee over to ICE to deport the individual, thereby inflating the number of ICE deportations. Crane described it as a “shell game” that allows what would normally be a mere “turn-back” to be counted as a formal “deportation,” thus inflating the deportation statistics.

Crane’s claims are fully backed up by official ICE documents that were revealed as a result of his lawsuit against DHS.

Crane also noted that he has received “no response at all” to his requests for meetings with three Republican “Gang of 8″ senators: Jeff Flake (R-AZ), John McCain (R-AZ), and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) – in order to provide the input of law enforcement to their immigration bill.

When Levin remarked that these senators nonetheless have had time to meet with the National Council of La Raza, Crane claimed: “Those groups are now running our agency… That’s why we’re not arresting people, that’s why we can’t do our jobs – it’s because they’re basically embedded in running our agency.”

A “disgusted” Levin called the information “stunning” and noted: “How in the hell are we supposed to get behind any so-called immigration bill when you just heard what Chris Crane had to say?… Folks! All hands on deck! Now’s the time to fight this!”

The pressure on the former Marine Crane and his agents for taking on their own bosses, and the massive establishment machine pushing amnesty must be immense. We salute their courage and will do everything we can to help them prevail.

Por La Raza, Todo! Joe Biden in full pander mode, totally without shame.

Few can equal Vice President Joe Biden as a race-baiting panderer. And Joe is increasingly making his professed amor for “Hispanics” standard fare in his stump speeches pushing amnesty for illegal aliens. Biden never misses an opportunity to put Hispanics – and especially illegal alien Hispanics – on a pedestal.

In January, addressing a group of newly-elected Latino members of Congress, Biden insisted that “now the nation — and I might add the hemisphere — understands the Hispanic community must be courted. Must be courted. You are the center of this nation’s future.”

And of course, by “courting”, Biden means pandering. And minting brand new Democrat voters from tens of millions of foreign nationals who either invaded our borders or illegally overstayed a visa.

This week, Biden lionized these lawbreakers - millions of whom have committed multiple felonies, such as Social Security fraud and identity theft, in the course of their stays here – as somehow noble.

Biden insisted that we have to pass the ‘Gang of 8′  illegal alien amnesty bill to give those in the country illegally a pathway to citizenship, because we would be “granting them the dignity and respect they deserve.”

Speaking at the Conference on the Americas on Wednesday in Washington, D.C., Biden told attendees from countries throughout the Western Hemisphere that America had to treat illegal invaders like none of those countries do – by handing them amnesty and citizenship.

And in classic Biden fashion, Joe expanded the pander-fest to all of Latin America:

“Because not doing that, it’s hard to make the case…to six hundred million people in the hemisphere, that we genuinely respect you all,” Biden said. “When we do not show respect for 11 million people here in America who hail from the very countries we talk about respecting. I don’t know how that’s done,” Biden said.

So we are somehow ”dissing” all of Latin America if we won’t hand full rights and privileges to illegals they exported here? Rights which no Latin American nation grants to illegal invaders in their own nations?

Keep in mind that in Mexico – source of 58% of U.S. illegal aliens - illegal entry is a felony, those re-entering can get 10 years in jail, and Mexicans are empowered to make citizens arrests of illegals and turn them in to authorities. Illegal aliens can be deported for any reason and without due process. Mexico has dozens of categories of jobs which only Mexican-born citizens are permitted to hold. Mexico puts Mexican citizens first. But we have to hand Mexicans who violate our borders and break our laws all the rights and privileges of American-born citizens? Simply unreal.

Three weeks after the shooting in Sandy Hook, CT, when politicians were using the murders as an excuse to grab the guns of law-abiding Americans, one lawman was calling instead for school kids to be defended.

Maricopa Country, Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio denounced efforts to ban guns, saying “bad guys will always get their guns”, and that gun control “never solves the problem”. So on January 9th the Sheriff announced he would deploy 500 armed volunteers to patrol outside 59 schools in metropolitan Phoenix.  Joe’s 3,000-strong “Posse”  has participated in the many “immigration sweeps” the Sheriff has conducted over the past decade – resulting in the arrests of hundreds of illegal aliens, drug and human smugglers and gang members. Now they will defend kids in America’s 4th largest county.

His announcement enraged opponents – including those currently trying to recall Joe from office.

But his policy has proved popular with his constituents. Joselyn Wells, the mother of three children at a school where Arpaio’s posse members have begun patrolling, said she was excited to hear about the initiative.

“A lot of people sit around and watch these things happen, watch key signs and no one wants to do anything about it,” she said. “Nobody wants conflict, nobody wants to be out in the limelight. And he doesn’t care. He wants to do the right thing.”

Arpaio has since expanded his school posse to 1,000, and this week conducted extensive training for posse members in real-life shooting scenarios.

The widely-anticipated Heritage Foundation estimate on the cost of the ‘Gang of Eight’ illegal alien amnesty bill was released this morning, and it is a unmitigated disaster.

The ‘comprehensive immigration’ overhaul being taken up in the Senate this week would add at least $6.3 trillion to the national debt if 11 million illegal aliens are granted legal status, according to the conservative think tank. And that amount assumes the low-ball figure of “11 million” – which most serious experts say is a gross underestimate.

The cost would arise from illegal aliens tapping into the government’s vast network of benefits and services, many of which are currently unavailable to them. This includes everything from standard benefits like Social Security and Medicare to dozens of welfare programs ranging from housing assistance to food stamps.

“No matter how you slice it, amnesty will add a tremendous amount of pressure on America’s already strained public purse,” Robert Rector, the Heritage scholar who prepared the report, said in a statement.

“There’s no way you can look at this and say that it’s good for the American taxpayer,” Heritage Foundation President Jim DeMint said. 

This study should be a deal-breaker for any Republicans who were even flirting with supporting it, as it would absolutely devastate U.S. taxpayers – who are already paying $113 billion per year for the costs of illegal aliens.

In the course of their lifetime, the report estimates that each amnestied illegal alien would receive on average $592,000 MORE in government benefits than they would pay in taxes. The $6.3 trillion figure is based on what illegal aliens would cost the government – receiving approximately $9.4 trillion in benefits and only paying $3.1 trillion in taxes.

Heritage says its $6.3 trillion is a “conservative estimate“. Annd of course since it uses the absurd “11 million” baseline figure for the number of illegals, the actual amount of debt amnestied illegal would add may be more than double the Heritage estimate. Far more credible estimates peg the actual number of illegals between 20 and 30 million.

Supporters of immigration amnesty have been skeptical of efforts to assign a cost to the immigration bill. Proponents argue that the value of bringing millions of illegal immigrants out of the shadows and presumably into the taxpaying workforce is immeasurable.

Stephen Moore, an economist and Wall Street Journal writer, said that despite the Heritage findings, there are other studies showing the legalization will be an economic boon that could grow the economy — in turn alleviating the country’s deficit problem.   

Sen. Marco Rubio, (R-FL), a key co-author of the legislation, repeated his claim that illegal aliens applying for legal status would not have access to federal benefits while they are applying.  After obtaining a green card, they would still be ineligible for many federal benefits for five years, said Rubio.

But Rubio is ignoring what Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) revealed last week – that given lax state rules for illegal and government benefits – millions of illegals would begin to receive benefits immediately. That’s because State laws often provide benefits for anyone “lawfully present.” And thus many illegal aliens  granted legal standing, known as registered provisional immigrant status, could immediately become eligible for public benefits.

And of course Rubio and his gangmembers completely ignore the simple fact that, due to the current misinterpretation of the 14th Amendment, when an illegal has anchor babies – children border on U.S. soil – they instantly qualify for food stamps, WIC, Medicaid and other benefits on their children’s behalf.

“Those who claim that amnesty will not create a large fiscal burden are simply in a state of denial concerning the underlying redistributional nature of government policy in the 21st century,” the Heritage report said.

Here they come:  Migrants bound for the U.S. border ride on top of a train  in Ixtepec, in Oaxaca, southern Mexico (AP).

For months, Stand With Arizona has been reporting (most recently here, here and here) on the massive increase in border crossings since Obama and the ‘Gang of Eight’ started promising amnesty for millions of illegal aliens.

And I have been interviewed by two dozen media outlets from the Washington Post and L.A. Times to CNN and even FoxNews. Each time I begged them to report the truth about what border agents were telling me – that a tidal wave of new alien arrivals was overwhelming agents and ranchers – especially in Texas.

We showed them emails and faxes, even one handwritten note from a border agent with the numbers. We even told them how DHS stopped releasing monthly statistics on apprehensions after the border crossing spike became known.

The national media ignored the evidence for 9 weeks – until now.

One of the reporters we spoke to, Anna Werner, from CBS News, is now reporting that arrests of illegal aliens crossing into the United States have nearly tripled in recent months in anticipation of the ‘Gang of Eight’ amnesty. To her credit, Werner spoke to border agents to verify the numbers we showed her back in March, and presented them on the CBS Evening News (video link).

In March, 7,500 illegals were arrested in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas, which includes McAllen, CBS quoted agent Chris Cabrera as reporting. That’s up from 2,800 in January. And that January number itself is up 200% over 2012. In February, nearly 4,800 illegals were arrested in the Rio Grande.

CBS even reported (as we did at the time) how overwhelmed agents in McAllen used their station’s carport to process nearly 900 illegals caught over three days in March, as they ran out of space to handle the massive influx.

The CBS report included surveillance video showing more than 40 men, women and children crossing the border illegally from Mexico during the night.

“The people in Washington think they have this idea that the border is safe, the border is secure,” agent Cabrera said. “I think they need to come down here and take a look.”

And remember – the ‘Gang of Eight’ bill does nothing to secure the border whatsoever. Even its proponents now admit that. If it passes there will be an even larger wave of illegals crossing the border, leaving ranchers and border states devastated by cartel criminals, and the wages of American workers further depressed by illegal aliens.

CBS interviewed one rancher, Juan Mercado, who lives on border property his family has owned since the 1850s, and is now under seige. Illegals usually come across his property, but recently Mercado has seen a tidal wave of illegals streaming across.

“I’m being invaded by people who have no permission to be on my property,” Mercado said. “By smugglers, by illegals.”

Mercado is left exposed by the failed border security policies of Obama and Napolitano’s DHS. So, as we reported last year regarding Texas ranchers turning to AK-47′s to defend themselves, Mercado is now relying on his own security system: a gun.

“I get a clip and it’s ready to go,” he said.

Is that the best the Feds can do? Leave it to Americans on the border to fend for themselves as they concern themselves with blanket amnesty to satisfy slave-labor addicted big businesses, and ethnic intimidation groups? ENOUGH!

It’s a good thing Jan Brewer is a politician and not a journalist. The Associated Press recently struck the term “illegal immigrant” from its lexicon. Not so Arizona’s feisty governor — and she’s not backing down on this one.

Brewer defended her use of the word during an interview with a clearly irritated ABC News Senior National Correspondant Jim Avila, who repeatedly pestered Brewer to change her language, to no avail:

“I’ve heard you use the phrase over and over and over again. They’re insulted by the term, ‘illegal immigrant.’ That that brands a person. What they do is illegal immigration, but the people themselves are not illegals. Have you thought about it at all, with so many Hispanics in your state? To stop using that word — illegal immigrant?”

“No, to me they’re illegal immigrants,” Brewer said.

“When you break the law, you’re doing something illegal, that makes you an illegal,” she added. “So they are an illegal immigrant.”

When Avila called her use of the phrase “offensive to some people,” Brewer remained firm in her convictions.

“Well I’m sorry, but I believe that if you break the law and you’re an illegal immigrant and you’re in this country illegally, you are an illegal immigrant,” she said.

She added that the term “illegal immigrant” was considered politically correct for years – as opposed to the more accurate term “illegal alien”, but now suddenly people want to change it. Brewer also expressed that illegal immigrants are people, but that the law must be followed, for the safety of Arizonans.

Although the annoying Avila wasted nearly half the interview persisting in trying to get the Governor to abandon the term, the rest of the interview was also news-making, as Brewer said the border was not secure by a longshot, and said that she opposes the ‘Gang of Eight’ amnesty bill.

Nice to see Arizona’s governor stand by the rule of law, and stick to her guns.

Way to go, Peach State!

Gov. Nathan Deal yesterday signed S.B. 160 – a tough expansion of Georgia’s H.B. 87, the Arizona-style law cracking down on illegal aliens, which passed in 2011.

The La Raza lobby was left stunned and upset, believing Deal would bend to the prevailing GOP pressure for immigration appeasement in Washington, and veto it. They were sadly mistaken.

Passed in the final hours of the General Assembly’s 40-day session – and despite fierce lobbying against it by ethnic intimidation groups, big business interests, and the ACLU – Senate Bill 160 was created to “fix” problems in licensing delays related to the old bill, but was later amended to add the following strong anti-illegal provisions, all now law:

• Bans illegal aliens from getting state driver’s licenses.
• Blocks illegal aliens from getting state, grants, public housing and retirement benefits.
• Prevents people from using foreign passports to obtain public benefits, unless those passports include records indicating they are in the country legally.
• Mandatory participation in E-Verify for contractors doing business with city, county and state government agencies.

SB 160 will take effect July 1.

About 1,500 illegals and supporters marched through downtown Atlanta on April 10 in support of the ‘Gang of 8′ amnesty plan, and to demand that Deal veto SB 160. Two days earlier, SWA posted a request to bombard to Governor’s office with calls, to our 22,000 Georgia members. Georgia’s citizens won the day, and the sour grapes were in abundant harvest yesterday:

Jerry Gonzalez, executive director of the Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials (GALEO), said

“It is a shame that Governor Deal continues to stoke anti-immigrant sentiment through signing SB160….The law will make Georgia more hostile toward foreigners and less competitive in the global marketplace. When the national GOP is moving toward immigration reform, Gov. Deal takes a huge step backward.”

Boo hoo!  Martin Lopez, an illegal alien “immigrant rights activist” from Atlanta, was among those who demonstrated outside the state Capitol this month. He said many illegals have been using their foreign passports as a form of identification to get public benefits because the state’s 2011 law prohibits officials from accepting matricula consular cards when people apply. He said he doesn’t know “what they can do now”.

They can go back to their country, Mr. Lopez.

“I don’t really know the outcome — it is going to be big,” said Lopez. Yes it is. And other states should follow suit. With GOP cowardice in the face of Obama’s lawlessness, Arizona-style state actions are the principal weapons which remain against illegal aliens. And yesterday, Georgia made all Americans who respect the rule of law very proud.

Who exactly do you represent? Gov. Deval Patrick dodges questions about how much
welfare benefits the Chechen terrorists got from his state, citing their “privacy”.

Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick and his state agencies are refusing to release information on what government benefits Boston jihadist Tamerlan Tsarnaev received, following a national furor over reports he and his family received welfare.

Their reason? It would violate the dead terrorist’s right to privacy!

That’s right. Led by the stalwart Boston Herald, media entities pressed for info all day. Across the board, state agencies flatly refused to provide information about the taxpayer-funded lifestyle for the 26-year-old man and his brother and accomplice Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19.

On EBT card status or spending, the Mass. state welfare spokesman would only say Tamerlan Tsarnaev, his wife and 3-year-old daughter received benefits that ended in 2012. He declined further comment.

On unemployment compensation, the Mass. labor department spokesman refused to disclose whether Tamerlan Tsarnaev ever collected, saying it was “confidential and not a matter of public record.”

On public housing, officials ducked questions on whether the brothers were ever on Section 8 assistance.

Friends and relatives report that the Chechen jihadist who trained to murder Americans had received ALL of these benefits on the taxpayer’s dime, but our public officials are protecting his “privacy” – and he wasn’t even a citizen!

I guess we shouldn’t be surprised that Gov. Patrick’s bureaucrats are going to such lengths to protect the “privacy” of a deceased non-citizen Muslim terrorist who murdered 4 people, including an 8-year old boy.

After all this is the same governor who protects the privacy of illegal alien criminals, by refusing to participate in the “Secure Communities” program wherein suspects’ fingerprints are sent to the FBI to be checked for immigration status. Because of Gov, Patrick’s refusal, an Ecuadorean illegal who assaulted a police officer in 2009  was never deported as required by law. That illegal, Nicolas Guaman, went on to DUI-kill student Matthew Denice – dragging his body under his truck for half a mile.

And the Feds got into the rally-round-the-terrorist act today too!

When pressed on whether Tamerlan Tsarnaev had an “Obama Phone” – and may have possibly even used one to trigger the Boston Marathon bombs – the Federal Communications Commission remained tight-lipped, refusing to say whether either brother had a government-paid cellphone, also citing privacy laws.

Remember – this is the same Administration that recently tried (and failed) to shred Federal HIPAA healthcare privacy laws to permit your doctor to secretly report that you were mentally ill – in order to have your guns taken away. But they are protecting the privacy of a terrorist? Seriously?

One Democratic congressman blasted both the Mass. and Federal governments, demanding the public’s right to know how taxpayers were underwriting the jihadist Tsarnaevs.

“(This is) relevant information that should be made public,” U.S. Rep. Stephen F. Lynch told the Herald. “There’s a national security interest No. 1. Secondly, there’s also a public interest in finding out whether these individuals were able to exploit the system and get benefits they weren’t entitled to.”

So the government is circling the wagons to protect the “privacy” of foreign-born, welfare-sponging terrorists who murdered Americans, but does not respect the right of the taxpayers and voters to know how much of their money was wasted on them.

Is it any wonder that the same government that wants to DOUBLE foreign visas under the ‘Gang of Eight’ amnesty bill? The inmates are truly running the asylum.

In a stunning order, a federal judge Wednesday said that the Obama administration is likely violating the law by telling immigration agents and officers not to arrest illegal aliens they deem “low priority”, in a lawsuit brought by ICE agents that could derail Obama’s plan to undermine immigration enforcement nationwide.

Federal Judge Reed O’Connor said in a court order Tuesday that Congress, not the president, sets priority for arresting illegal immigrants, and said the law requires them to be put in deportation proceedings.

“The court finds that DHS does not have discretion to refuse to initiate removal proceedings,” Judge O’Connor wrote in a stunning order few had expected.

Though not a final order, the judge shut the door on the Obama Administration’s effort to throw out this lawsuit, and guarantees a major battle ahead which could overturn Obama’s “virtual amnesty” for millions of illegals.

As we have reported, for the last several years the administration has conducted an arrogant, multi-pronged attack on the rule of law – first via the 2011 memorandums from the ICE Director and DHS Secretary, to an amnesty decree from Obama last year – in total outrageously shielding between 3 million and 5 million illegal aliens from arrest or deportation.

The Homeland Security department claimed it was using “prosecutorial discretion, and ordered agents to comply and refuse to enforce the immigration laws.

ICE immigration agents and officers sued (you can donate at this link), saying federal law requires them to make the arrests, but the Obama administration would discipline them if they complied with the law.

The judge said if Homeland Security officials want to set priorities for who they deport, they can do that later — but they cannot control who agents arrest.

The order is not a final ruling. Judge O’Connor said he still needs more information from both the administration and the immigration agents about whether the agents had another avenue to protest the policy rather than to go to court. He asked both sides to submit more information by May 6.

Still, Tuesday’s order makes clear that the judge rejects the central part of Mr. Obama’s claim that he can use discretion to decide not to arrest some illegal immigrants.

The case was brought by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Council, the labor union that represents ICE agents and officers.
