Ramos first confronted Reid about Obama’s failure to keep his campaign promise to push for an amnesty bill in his first term, despite his 14 months of Congressional filibuster-proof super-majority in 2009-10.

An irritated Reid responded as we would expect him to: by blaming Republicans, even though the GOP could not have stopped any bill in Obama’s first term, if Obama had actually made it a priority (which he did not).

But then Reid made news by revealing that Obama – who has already dismantled the enforcement regime against illegal aliens, and granted a unilateral amnesty for nearly 2 million illegal aliens by a stroke of his pen last August – would be engaging in more amnesty moves without Congressional approval in the near future:

RAMOS: Because he didn’t keep his word on presenting an immigration proposal his first year, is there a Hispanic problem for President Obama?

REID: Well, Jorge, the polls, because of what the Republicans have done on wide-ranging issues to be anti-hispanic, the polls show Democrats leading by significant numbers including President Obama. President Obama is not a perfect man, he hasn’t been a perfect president. He’s been a very very good president. And we’ve done some extremely good things, especially as it relates to the dreamers to make sure they are not taken away in the middle of the night. There’s a lot more than can be done. There’s more the president is going to do administratively and that should happen fairly quickly.

There you have it – with their electoral backs against the wall, we can expect even more extra-judicial, extra-Congressional, lawless amnesty moves by this cabal before November.

And don’t you just love the phony drama about preventing “Dreamers” from being “taken away in the middle of the night“, when in reality they parade around on city streets and protest state capitols with no fear of the neutered ICE whatsoever.

Ramos, who recently had his own feisty interview with Joe Arpaio, then asked Reid about the popular and controversial Sheriff, absurdly asking if Arpaio should “quit”…

REID: Well first of all he should never have been elected and should he quit? The answer is yes. This is a man who is demonstrably one of the most unfair people I have ever dealt with in government. It’s too bad he’s done what he’s done. But he relishes in being a Hispanic-basher, and that’s really too bad.

Typical Reid, like Chuck Schumer, Dick Durbin, or even Barack Obama: blame Republicans for your own failure to push through immigration “reform”; and slam Sheriff Joe for doing the job that the Feds refuse to do: enforce the laws on the books.

Are Hispanics so gullible as to fall for this crap again in 2012, as they did in 2008?

Those eight words should have sent the message loud and clear to the Obama administration that they are in for a tough, and potentially embarrassing fight against “America’s Toughest Sheriff” Joe Arpaio.

Arpaio, who has become the nation’s most prominent symbol in the fight against illegal immigration, appeared on the Mike Broomhead show on KFYI in his first interview since being officially served with a suit by the Obama administration’s Justice Department.

Arpaio was, predictably, entirely un-intimidated, condescendingly remarking that “it’s a political year” as his explanation for why the administration was choosing to target him at this particular moment. Later, Arpaio crowed, “Take me to Court! I love going to Court!”

Broomhead noted that even Joe’s detractors were asking for proof of the accusations against him. Arpaio responded that nothing had come out because there was no proof.

“It’s the election year. Go after the Sheriff. All these local activists have been ganging up with the ACLU and the Justice Department hoping that I’ll resign,” Arpaio scoffed. “But I’m not going to resign.”

“They can do all they want with all those demonstrators calling me a Nazi, Hitler, every name in the book, they’re worried because I say one word, and they go crazy,” he said. “It’s all a game plan to get rid of this Sheriff.”

Arpaio brushed off accusations about his methods, saying his opponents just didn’t like that he was doing a good job enforcing the illegal immigration laws. “They don’t like it. They don‘t like this high profile Sheriff that’s not gonna back down,” he said.

And based on the rest of the interview, Arpaio can be trusted to stick to his word on that. From sneering about the “beer summit” to offering to take on President Obama on the basketball court, Arpaio showed complete, unflappable calm. This fight is not likely to go well for the White House.

Ever since Obama took office, opponents of illegal immigration knew it would come to this.

This Administration has already dismantled the enforcement regime against illegal aliens. They engineered a unilateral amnesty for nearly 2 million illegal aliens by a stroke of Obama’s pen last August. They sued to stop states like Arizona, Alabama and Georgia from enforcing existing immigration laws after the Feds failed to do so. The Attorney General has bullied states like Texas and South Carolina, by blocking voter ID laws designed to stop voter fraud by illegal aliens and others.

But no matter what they did, or who they bullied, there was always one individual who refused to back down: Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

The Obama cabal’s intent to target Sheriff Joe was made clear early on, when on March 11, 2009 – at a time when most cabinet departments were barely even staffed – the DOJ announced a full investigation of Arpaio’s department for “discriminatory police practices and unconstitutional searches and seizures”. What evidence had they amassed after only 49 days in office? They revealed none.

But  just six months before that, in September 2008, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE) did its own exhaustive investigation of Arpaio’s office — and gave it a clean bill of health.

ICE said Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Sheriff and deputies were “professional”, had “met the requirements” of Federal guidelines, which included a ban on racial profiling.

They went on:

ICE investigators also interviewed top federal officials involved in illegal immigrant cases in Arizona. They found an “excellent” working relationship between the sheriff’s office and the feds. ICE talked as well to federal prosecutors in Phoenix, who described the cases brought by Maricopa County as “high quality.“

Yet just six months later, a barely-staffed DOJ accused Arpaio and his department of “discriminatory police practices”? What had changed? Nothing. It was pure politics. That’s all it is, all it ever was.

And so, this afternoon, after months of unsuccessfully trying to compel Sheriff Joe to cave in to their ridiculous demand to take over his department; and only 2 weeks after their humiliating beat-down in front of the U.S. Supreme Court over S.B. 1070, the Department of Justice sued Arpaio, his office, and Maricopa County, in U.S. District Court in Phoenix.

Thomas Perez, the head of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division – yes, the same one which dropped a case of clear voter intimidation by the New Black Panther Party in 2009, said

“The police are supposed to protect and serve our communities, not divide them. If you look Latino (in Maricopa County), you are fair game.”.

Perez is one of many former La Raza radicals who have been given faux legitimacy via their elevation to powerful positions in the Obama Administration – including Cecilia Munoz and Hilda Solis – and they play the dirtiest racial politics America has ever seen.

Sheriff Joe, who has become the nation’s most prominent symbol in the war against illegal immigration, wasted no time in striking back. In an interview, he defiantly blasted the Administration for their hypocrisy and corruption:

“Clean your own house, Eric Holder, before you come trying to clean mine,” Arpaio said. “This is a coordinated effort directed from the White House to deflect attention from Eric Holder’s failure to cooperate in the congressional investigation into Fast and Furious.”

“I won’t surrender,” Arpaio insisted, referring to the Justice Department’s demand to put federal monitors within the MCSO. “I intend to fight back.”

America stands with Sheriff Joe, and we will fight with you all the way, including removing this corrupt Administration – and their divisive, un-American politics – from power in November.

Thank you, Granite State! The New Hampshire Senate yesterday joined the House in passing a resolution (full text below) proclaiming that “the state of New Hampshire fully supports the State of Arizona’s right to protect its borders and citizens” by passing its immigration law S.B. 1070.

The resolution’s path to passage was very contentious, with opponents testifying hysterically against it in both chambers, and Democrats trying all manner of procedural gimmicks to try and derail it – all in vain. House Concurrent Resolution 2 (HCR2) passed the Senate 15-9 last evening after slapping down an attempt by the Internal Affairs Committee, to kill it. The resolution has the effect of law.

It is an exceptional document, a testament to state rights and respect for the Constitution and rule of law, and legislators did their state, and all America proud with its passage.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Eleven

A RESOLUTION in support of the Arizona immigration law.

Whereas, the people of the State of Arizona have the right of security in their persons, freedoms, employment, financial future, and practice of religion; and

Whereas, the Constitution of the State of Arizona provides the people of Arizona with the right of security in their persons and freedoms; and

Whereas, Arizona did join with the several states in The Constitution for the United States of America to enjoy the security, prosperity, and liberty afforded by such an agreement; and

Whereas, The Constitution for the United States of America guarantees to the several states protection against invasion and domestic violence, those protections being expected of the Federal Government by the people of the State of Arizona; and

Whereas, the borders of the United States of America are being compromised by the illegal entry of immigrants from adjacent countries, that entry compromising the security and prosperity of the several states comprising The United States of America; and

Whereas, it is in the best interest of the State of Arizona to protect its borders and provide security and a strong economy for its citizens; and

Whereas, the security of the several states, of which the State of Arizona is a part, is being threatened by 4 to 10 million illegal aliens that crossed our southwestern border, of which as many as 19,500 illegal aliens are from terrorist countries, the millions of pounds of drugs, cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, and marijuana that have crossed into the United States from the southern border; and

Whereas, the northward surge of illegal immigrants has now reached the States of Washington, Colorado, Kansas, North Carolina, Massachusetts and New Hampshire; and

Whereas, the financial future of the several states, of which the State of Arizona is a part, is being threatened by billions of dollars spent on welfare, healthcare, education, and incarceration of illegal aliens each year by state governments; and

Whereas, the intent of this resolution is to support Arizona’s Immigration Law SB1070, that achieves attrition of the presence of illegal aliens through enforcement of their public policy; now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the state of New Hampshire fully supports the State of Arizona’s right to protect its borders and citizens; and

That the clerk of the New Hampshire House of Representatives shall forward signed copies of this resolution to the President of the United States of America, the President of the United States Senate, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, and the members of the New Hampshire congressional delegation so that they may be apprised of the sense of the citizens of New Hampshire in this matter.

As most Americans know, Florida is a state where a small number of votes can make a huge difference. After all, the 2000 presidential election was decided by just over 500 votes. So when there is evidence of potential voter fraud, officials better take it seriously.

But they rarely have. Stand With Arizona, along with FAIR, have urged Florida to check on evidence of potential illegal alien voters for over a year with no action taken. That is, until a Tampa NBC affiliate uncovered shocking evidence of illegal aliens who voted in multiple elections – a story we reported on last month – a post on this website which was read by over 60,000 people.

As is usually the case, the illegals registered using the fraud machine, the “Motor Voter Act” (1993) passed under Clinton, which required only that a person claim citizenship to register – a clear design to enable voter fraud from coast-to-coast. States have recently cracked down on this loophole, but the damage has been done, with untold hundreds of thousands of unlawfully registered “voters” across the nation.

Once the Tampa NBC story broke, SWA was told that Gov. Rick Scott put huge pressure on Florida cities and counties to crack down on voter registration fraud, especially by foreign nationals.

In the first subsequent investigation being reported, Miami-Dade County officials are checking the citizenship of thousands of registered voters. The Miami CBS affiliate has learned that 2,000 of those potential non-citizen voters are registered in Miami-Dade County.

“These are the people that we have to notify by mail that we have a reason to believe that they’re a non-citizen,” said Christina White, Deputy Supervisor of Elections.

We are pleased Miami is finally investigating this outrage – even if they had to be compelled by the Governor to do so. But this is just a drop in the bucket. If they know about 2,000, you can be sure there are 20,000 they don’t know about, and the entire state, and every state, must commit major resources to uncover illegal voter registrations – a FELONY – before the November elections.

Because we are going to see voter fraud this November that would make Hugo Chavez blush.

It’s been a busy week for Sheriff Joe Arpaio and his Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) deputies, as they have  captured 49 illegal aliens being smuggled into the U.S. in multi-point sweeps across the region over the past 5 days, including 15 arrested this morning alone.  And as in nearly 80% of such cases involving MCSO, most of the illegals were headed for states other than Arizona.

On Tuesday afternoon, sheriff’s detectives were investigating two vehicles near Fountain Hills for human smuggling. The first vehicle contained 10 illegal aliens, including the coyote, which were heading to New York, Delaware, Louisiana, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland and Kentucky. Six were identified as Mexican nationals and three were from Guatemala.

The second vehicle contained 10 to 12 illegal aliens who all ran into the desert from sheriff’s detectives. After a lengthy search of the area using air support and with the assistance of DPS, only three were found and arrested. This group was heading to Ohio.

On Saturday, MCSO detectives discovered a vehicle in Gila Bend which was being used to smuggle illegal aliens into the country. It was carrying six illegals and a coyote. While searching the vehicle, an AK-47 was located under the back seat.  That same evening, detectives were investigating a drop house in Gila Bend and found nine more illegals. These groups admitted to crossing the border near Altar, Sonoyta and Sasabe.

Of all those arrested, seven illegal aliens were booked into the 4th Avenue jail on drug charges, while 19 illegal aliens and one U.S. citizen were booked into the 4th Avenue jail on human smuggling-related charges. Six juveniles, and two others were turned over to ICE officials. The investigation continues for the 15 arrested today.

Sheriff Arpaio said, “Illegal aliens continue to cross the border into the United States, violating the law, whether it is the illegal immigration or drug laws….trafficking is increasing involving illegal aliens, and I am preparing for another drug and illegal alien crime suppression operation.”

While lawyers in D.C. argue, and justices deliberate over the fate of Arizona’s landmark S.B. 1070 law, Sheriff Joe Arpaio and his deputies continue to enforce the law every single day, to remove illegal aliens from Arizona streets. And since most of them are headed to states other than Arizona, Joe is also keeping them off a street near you. Way to go, Joe!

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio orders 200 convicted illegal aliens handcuffed together and moved into a separate area of Tent City, for incarceration until their sentences are served and they are deported to their home countries.

If the Supreme Court decides in favor of Arizona’s tough immigration bill, the Obama attorney arguing against S.B. 1070 predicted “mass incarceration” of “Latinos” – illegal aliens, in Arizona.

But Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said that would be “no problem” – he’s got room for them in “Tent City”.

“We lock up people all the time,” Arpaio said in a phone interview. “Since I started enforcement, we’ve arrested on the streets, investigated – in our jails over 51,000.

“I didn’t see any problem, other than the fact that some activists and politicians in Washington (don’t) like me enforcing the illegal immigration law,” Arpaio said.

“And by the way, if they think that it will overcrowd the jails, I’m not concerned. I got room in the tents. I got plenty of room…I’ll put more tents up,” Arpaio said. “So that should never be an excuse (that) you can’t house these people.”

Arpaio’s department apprehends a staggering 25% of ALL illegal aliens captured in the entire United States each year. And since over 70% of those illegals were headed for states other than Arizona when caught, the Sheriff and his deputies protect all Americans with their operations – a good reason why cynical politicians who want those votes want Arpaio stopped. That is why George Soros-funded groups have pledged to spend $10 million to defeat Arpaio for re-election this year.

The Obama Administration is desperate to stop the landmark Arizona immigration law – and the states which have copied it. During oral arguments before the high court on the law – which allows state police to check the immigration status of individuals stopped, detained or arrested for other reasons – Solicitor General Donald Verrilli responded to Justice Antonin Scalia’s remarks that Arizona seems to be merely enacting laws that are already federal statutes.

“Well, what I think they are going to do in Arizona is something quite extraordinary, that has significant, real and practical foreign relations effects,” Verrilli said. Scalia then mocked Verilli, asking if “we have to enforce our laws in a manner that will please Mexico?”

Scalia gets it. So does Sheriff Joe. We have borders, and laws, for a reason. And no amount of political manipulation is going to sway men and women of character. They will enforce the law. Sheriff Joe Arpaio is one such man. After S.B. 1070 was passed in April 2010, over 100,000 illegal aliens fled Arizona, in large part because of the efforts of Arpaio and his many deputies.

And if the Supreme Court upholds 1070 in June, we may well see another 100,000 flee in short order.

For those who choose to stay, don’t worry: there will always be plenty of room – and pink underwear  – for you in Tent City.

A stalwart foe of illegal immigration has won a victory over sanctuary city policies in a major U.S. city.

Atlanta has repealed an ordinance that recognized a particular Mexican ID – the infamous “Matricula Consular” card – for city government transactions.

The city council voted to repeal the ordinance – which was adopted in 2004 – after a complaint was filed with the newly created state Immigration Enforcement and Review Board – which was created after passage of Georgia’s Arizona-style immigration law H.B. 87 in July 2010.

The complaint, filed in February by longtime anti-illegal alien activist D.A. King,  said the ordinance violated H.B. 87 by recognizing the Mexican ID card for city government transactions. It was the first complaint received by the board.

The “Matricula” has a long and disturbing history in America. Purposely created by the Mexican government and distributed in its dozens of U.S. consulates to facilitate illegal aliens’ exploitation of U.S. social service benefits, it has been used for years by illegals to steal services in sanctuary cities across the nation. It is routinely used to mask identity thieves by creating new false names as needed to escape past wrongdoing. It was even accepted by unscrupulous entities like Bank of America to issue massive subprime loans to illegal aliens, which helped precipitate the start of the housing collapse in 2007-8.

The Consular card is still accepted in dozens of sanctuary cities across America, for social services, for opening bank accounts, and even for boarding airlines, despite being declared insecure and dangerous by the FBI, as one official testified before Congress back in 2003:

Federal officials have arrested alien smugglers who have had as many as seven different Matricula Consular cards in their possession. … These criminal threats are significant, but it is the terrorist threat presented by the Matricula Consular that is most worrisome.

McGraw testified that “the Department of Justice and FBI have concluded the Matricula Consular is not a reliable form of identification, due to the non-existence of any means of verifying the true identity of the card holder.”

“At least one individual of Middle Eastern descent has also been arrested in possession of the Matricula Consular card,” McGraw said. Thankfully, America’s ninth largest city no longer accepts these IDs.

On the eve of a showdown for S.B. 1070 in the U.S. Supreme Court next week, a new poll shows that Americans support Arizona’s landmark immigration crackdown more than ever – by a margin of more than two-to-one.

A Fox News poll released Friday shows 65 percent of voters favor the ‘controversial’ law, while 31 percent oppose it. Eighty-four percent of Republicans favor Arizona’s law, while 46 percent of Democrats do. A 51-percent majority of Democrats opposes the law.

Perhaps most significantly, Independents – considered swing voters in the upcoming election – favor the law by a 40 percentage-point margin (67-27 percent). That’s good news for presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, who has said he thinks Arizona’s law would be a good model for the rest of the country.

Pundits have suggested that Romney may re-consider that stance out of a misplaced concern over “Hispanic” voters, which may or may not be true. But his stated position in favor of strong enforcement is popular – as demonstrated in another poll by Bloomberg which shows that Americans prefer Romney’s immigration stance to Obama’s 43-39%.

The Arizona law took effect in July 2010. It makes illegal immigration a state crime and allows local law enforcement to question the legal status of anyone stopped on suspicion of a crime and detain anyone who cannot prove his or her immigration status.  The Justice Department filed suit challenging it, and the U.S. Supreme Court hears arguments next Wednesday on whether many of the law’s key provisions are constitutional.

S.B. 1070 was co-written by former Arizona Senate President Russell Pearce and attorney (and now KS Secretary of State) Kris Kobach. In Pearce’s recent opinion piece SB1070 Is Working, he noted how “Arizona’s illegal population fell by 110,000 in 2010, or 23 percent” as a result of the law’s impact. But Pearce also noted:

Ultimately, the federal government must do its job by securing the border, cracking down on employers of those here illegally and vigorously enforcing the laws already on the books in cooperation with local law enforcement. The 360,000 illegal aliens remaining in Arizona are a constant reminder that the problem has not been entirely solved and that the courts need to take the handcuffs off of law enforcement and allow them to enforce SB1070.  

According to polls, Americans agree wholeheartedly. Let us hope five justices of the Supreme Court agree. We shall see this coming week, and when the decision is announced in June.
